My evening with Maxwell (kind of)
I took a leisurely stroll to Sony HQ this evening (all these labels are in my neighbourhood now - W8 baybay!!!!) to get the first listen of Maxwell's forthcoming LP BLACKsummers'night...I don't doubt the recession was the reason why he wasn't there, but whatever. The album was strong.
Unfortunately they only played it once (and swept us outta there QUICKTIME), but good ol' PR Richie said I can hear it again anytime. And so I should - nothing was much memorable except the absolutely gob-stopping Stop The World. The rest are quality, solid joints, but this one just SHINED.
Anyway, here's the tracklisting (this shouldn't get me in trouble, I don't think???):

Also learned tonight he's likely to be in the UK this autumn - perhaps October, November. And since Blacksummer'snight is a trilogy of albums (Black, Summer's and Night), the follow-up could possibly be out next year.
Myself, Soulculture's Marsha and Eddie, Can from Pinboardblog.com and journo/PR Felicia Okoye figured the dream comeback for Max might be a tour with D'Angelo...in fact, I think this should be the way forward if D knows what's good for him...but how much would you pay for such a gig?

Right! This is what we've got to do.
We need to start a campaign!!! We need to get a petition going...we need to do it old school. And if that don't work, PURE ANARCHY! We'll drag D out of his home, excess weight and all...he'll have no CHOICE! Mwah ha ha haaaaaa!
