Turns out the lens I was salivating over today (and I mean, this very day) worth £250 is being sold by one of my brother's friends for £170.  He informed me this evening;  he didn't know I wanted this lens, nor did I know there was a lens up for grabs. Japanese photojournalist Shiho Fukada. Actually came across her work based on a New York Times feature about her doc-project Disposed Of, which looks at the negative impact of the recession in Japan - and IT IS BRILLIANT!  The pic above won Fukada an award for documenting a victim from the 2008 earthquake in China - and you can see yourself, it's pretty emotive.

Photographer Yelena Yemchuk (great name, oui?) who's shot the cover for January's Dazed & Confused magazine, feat. Courtney Love.  She caught my attention because I thought any photographer who can get away with a super-soft focus on the front cover has gots to have skills - and while I'm more impressed with the styling than composition in the pic above, it's still a pretty hot shot.
